People often want to know which of the six Perceptual Styles would make the best match for a romantic relationship. Alas, we have to tell them the mysteries of love are just too deep for any one factor to determine success or failure. The truth is that two people with any of the possible Perceptual Style combinations can and do fall in love, stay in love, and create lasting and meaningful relationships.

The simple answer is YES.

Even though you share your Perceptual Style with a lot of other people (as in 1/6th of the world), you are still unique as an individual. Let me explain...

When you meet a person with the same Perceptual Style, there’s an almost instantaneous feeling that “here’s someone who understands me.”

Early on in the pandemic I realized, in the blink of an eye, the Pandemic brought into awareness two fundamental truths about life that most of us would much rather distract ourselves from: “We are not in control” and “We do not know what is going to happen.” More recently I have added a third: “We are all of us alone.”

Earlier this month, Lynda-Ross wrote a blog referencing my dad’s passing and the quote, “To live in the hearts of those we leave behind is not to die.” This is undoubtedly true about Papi. Unbeknown to her, this quote rumbled through my head as I looked at his casket during his funeral service.

My father-in-law passed away last month at the age of 96. His was a life well-lived, and he left behind an extended family who loved him deeply. He was our “Papi,” the patriarch of the family.

I’ve been fascinated with the concept of perception since I can remember. How does it happen that two people can be in the same place, see the same thing, and come away with two different versions of what happened?
